About Us

CIAI was founded in 2001 through volunteer effort, following an increasing sense of exclusion felt among African/Black immigrants in British Columbia.

Vision Statement

CIAI aims to facilitate a smooth integration for African/Black immigrants. CIAI believes in equal opportunities, which result from strengthened acceptance of diversity, achievable through cross-cultural exchange, information, education, and active participation in the development of society.

Mission

CIAI seeks to:

  1. Act as a bridge between the immigrant community and mainstream society
  2. Provide information to assist in integration
  3. Facilitate access to services and the labour market
  4. Promote public awareness of the African/Black community in Canada

Our partners

In order to achieve our goals, CIAI has formed partnerships with the Government of Canada: Service Canada, Canadian Heritage, Industry Canada, The City of Vancouver, Vancity, Spencer Foundation, Arts Now (2010 Legacy Now), UMOJA, Calvary Church of all Nations, Coast Capital, The Warehouse – City Outreach Society.
