Education to Facilitate Integration (EFI) EFI focuses on the integration of African/Black students into the BC school system. The Centre of Integration for African Immigrants (CIAI) believes that schools are the training ground for the development of attitudes which define our responses to issues and life. EFEI will link culture to education, bringing together leaders from the African/Black community, youth, and teachers. The meeting point will be a series of interactive workshops for both students and teachers. Along with these workshops, a compilation of resources (books, videos, speakers, agencies, contacts) related to African/Black culture, will be made available to schools. “A Journey to Discover Black History 2008” - affiliated with the ‘Education to Facilitate Integration’(EFI) proposal - is a project funded by Heritage Canada. This project has been designed to facilitate the integrative process for African/Black students within the Canadian school system by highlighting the historical contributions of Africans and Blacks. The EFI project also provides an opportunity for members of the Black community to be involved in volunteering. Community members will research the history, lead discussions and help to facilitate student presentations. “A Journey to Discover Black History 2008” is a 3-step project: Step1: September 1, 2007 - September 30, 2007
Step 2: October 1, 2007- February 22, 2008
Step 3: February 23, 2008
